Description: Demi and Sadye become instant friends when they meet at Miss Deliah’s School of Dance. Each feel that they do not fit in and have to pretend to be someone else. Demi and Sadye audition for Wildewood Academy for Performing Arts Summer Theatre Institute and make it! Their time at Wildewood is full of ups and downs, and their newfound friendship takes some hits.

Comment:  It is difficult not to become involved in Demi, Sadye, and assortment of character’s lives.  You are easily caught up and at times can become extremely upset with the teachers, although in the end you know they are doing what they think (and probably is) the best for their students.

Description: After a cholera epidemic wracks the colony in Oregon.  Temperance feels that it is her duty to take orphaned children east to relatives.  The only man she could find is drifter and outlaw Thaddeus Brennan to guide them.

Comment: A very quick read.  Although you feel like you shouldn’t like Brennan, you begin rooting for him in the end.

Description: Hannah Swensen life changes when Ron LaSalle is murdered outside her bakery.  She leaves her comfortable kitchen to track down a murderer.  She better be careful or she could become the next victim.

Comment: A very charming “cozy” mystery.   It is difficult to put down because you want to know what Hannah will do next.  She is very quick with her thinking and tongue which both could land her in hot water at any time.

Comment:  Going through a miscarriage(s) is heart breaking.  The loss is real and can be emotional devestating.  Dr. Young offers some causes and hope to women who may have difficultly carrying full-term.

Comment: We all struggle with issues at sometime in our lives.  Sometimes we are lucky enough to find someone who will help you get your life back in gear.

Comment: When I first checked this book out I thought all the meals would have to be cooked outside. I had envisioned cowboys cooking after a dusty trail ride.  I was surprised to find that almost all the meals could be cooked inside. For those who like to cook hearty meals this would be one to look at.

Patron picks has moved to a blog “format”!  This will allow greater flexiblity for you and the library.  It will be easier for the library to post patrons suggestions and it will allow you to post comments on each title.  Comments will be moderated for language and relevance to the topic only. 

Suggestions of materials to be added can me emailed to melissa@fcplibrary.lib.in.us or dropped off at the library (or bookmobile).  Please include title, author, brief description, comment relating to book, your name and phone number.
